Halloween Continues October 31: Pumpkins in the Tanks!
The spooky fun doesn't stop on Friday!
On Saturday, October 31, we're celebrating Halloween by dropping pumpkins into AquaZoo's aquatic exhibits!
But pumpkins aren't just a festive decoration. Depending on the species and how they're used, pumpkins can also provide opportunities for animal enrichment.
Animal enrichment is an important part of animal care. It introduces opportunities for animals to explore, investigate, forage, and engage in natural behaviors.
For some animals, a pumpkin might be something new to investigate. For others, it may provide an opportunity to interact with their environment in a different way.
Our ZooCrew carefully considers the needs, behaviors, and safety of each species when planning enrichment activities.
Come see how some of our aquatic residents react to their Halloween surprises!
Why Animal Enrichment Matters
At Hill City AquaZoo, providing excellent care for our animal residents is at the heart of everything we do.
Enrichment is one of the many ways our ZooCrew supports animal well-being by encouraging species-appropriate behaviors and providing opportunities for mental and physical activity.
Different animals have different enrichment needs, which is why our team puts thought and care into planning activities that are appropriate for each resident.
Whether it's exploring a new object, investigating an unfamiliar scent, or searching for food, enrichment can encourage curiosity and natural behaviors.
Our Halloween pumpkin activities offer a fun opportunity to highlight some of the work that goes into caring for our animals every day.
Explore Aquatic and Exotic Animals
Your Halloween adventure doesn't have to stop with the activities!
Hill City AquaZoo is home to a variety of aquatic and exotic animals, from fascinating underwater species to reptiles, birds, mammals, and more.
As you explore, take time to observe our residents, learn about their behaviors and adaptations, and ask our ZooCrew questions.
There's always something new to discover, and you might even find a new favorite animal along the way!
